A Labor Of Love And Dedication

One of the reason I’m selling super cute fabric headbands on the World Wide Web, other than the fact they’re super cute, is so I can support my dearest first born son, Alex, on his mission to St. Petersburg, Russia. His mission is to tell others about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

The cost of sending a child on an LDS mission is $400.00 a month, no matter where you labor. The cost of a mission is financed by the family. Other family members and friends often contribute to the expenses of keeping a missionary out for two years. The “Church” does not finance any of the costs of getting a missionary prepared to serve, nor any of the living expenses while they are serving. It is truly a labor of love and dedication to the gospel of Jesus Christ by the missionary and family. We are more than willing to shoulder the costs, but at times it is not easy.

Alex has been in Russia for almost one year and will serve another year before he is released. During this time our only contact is through weekly email. We heard from him earlier today and he said, “I’ve have never been better.” Which obviously means he’s happy. He loves the Russian people and is enjoying this marvelous experience.

The good new… for a worrisome mom… is that so far, it has been a mild winter in St. Petersburg. In fact, it’s been so chilly here in Southern Utah that the temperature in Russia is often warmer than just outside my window

The initial success I’ve had selling my Tie-Band fabric headbands has been fantastic and I want to express gratitude to all those who have made purchases here on this site. I hope you are enjoying wearing your headbands as much as my girls and I enjoy wearing ours.

Please come back soon and check our our new fabrics and possibilities.

Tie a smile on your day!

P.S. I recently sent a package to Russia with cute fabric headbands for the girls (called “Sisters” ) serving in the St. Petersburg mission. No reason why a “Sister” can’t be stylish too.

Treat Yourself… It’s The Holidays

Holidays are the best, aren’t they?  Getting into the holiday spirit is easy with a reversible fabric headband by “Tie-Bands”.  Don’t forget the fact that “Tie-Bands” are reversible, and can give you a choice of holiday pizzazz to add to any outfit.  Wearing a holiday headband is just plain fun.

We tend to think of the “Holidays” as being just Christmas… but I can think of at least 8 major holiday seasons:  New Year, Valentine, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter,  4th of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving and good old Christmas.  Of course you can always find a reason to celebrate.  Weddings, Birthdays, Anniversaries, Back to School (mmmm I don’t know about this one… but we’ll leave it in just in case), Getting out of school, (that’s more like it).  You get what I mean.

I know at our house we love to really get into the holidays, whether it’s pumpkin Crocs for Halloween, red/white/blue dresses for the 4th of July, four leaf clovers on St. Patrick’s Day, or Easter Bonnets, and of course, a cute holiday headband.  We want to show our holiday spirit.

Our Christmas headbands have seasons greetings, snowflakes, ginger bread men, and Christmas trees on them.  And, I can’t wait to get started on my New Year collection of sparkles, shimmers and shine to ring in 2012.  Can you believe… it’s 2012?  Where does time go?  It sure flys by quickly at my house.

Did I mention they’re ultra comfortable and won’t add stress to your holidays by giving you a headache?

Do you love the holiday season too?  Grab yourself a holiday, reversible fabric headband today and start spreading a little holiday of your own.

P.S. Happy holidays from my house to yours… no matter the holiday season.

Can This Be True… An Ancient Fashion Statement?

When I found this photo of this Indian, with his fabric headband… I couldn’t help but consider the history of headbands.  Headband history goes back along way. Headbands have been around since the Romans… and obviously before.  Then, a headband was functional as well as decorative… and often times served both purposes.

Anciently, the Greeks and Roman wore headbands, mainly in the form of wreaths.  It was a mark of distinction among the rich and famous.  They wore headband for special occasions, which were made from Laural leaves or fashioned in gold.  Jewels and beads often adorned the more expensive head band.  Their headbands were more decorative than utilitarian.

Early on, the Japanese used wide strips of fabric.  They tied a wide fabric strip around their forehead before they dealt with a difficult task.  Guess it kept the sweat out of their eyes. Obviously, their use of fabric headbands was more functional rather than decorative.

In the Roaring ’20′s the flappers donned a headband, usually made from fabric or beads.  Gals just liked them because they were pretty, not necessarily because they were useful, even though they wore them across their foreheads.

Plastic headbands were introduce in the ’50′s just after the plastic industry blossomed.  My girls and I have never been particularly fond of plastic headbands.  We have always found them to be too tight and they produce head aches because they pinch the tender spot behind the ears. Ouch!  They still remain in the stores… but don’t ask me why.

The hippies of the ’60′s donned headbands that generally went across the forehead and was usually tied in the back or side.  (However… I don’t believe true hippies did much work.)  Fabric headbands were the most popular because they could take advantage of tie-dyed fabrics.  Of their own making, I’m sure.  Audrey Hepburn, of the ’60′s sported a headband, but she wasn’t a hippie.  “Happy” but not “Hippie”.

In the ’70′s and ’80′s, headbands became more functional, as the folks became more interested in exercising.  Like the Japanese, fabric headbands would absorb the moisture during a hard workout.

In recent years headbands have blossomed.  They are not only extremely functional… but are used as fashion statement.  Fabric headbands can be made of plain, or printed fabric.  Fabrics can be adorned with sequins, glitter and such for dress up occasions.  Cute headbands are trimmed in ribbon, feathers, sequins, glitter and the list goes on and on.

So… what do you think.  Is our Indian wearing his headband because it’s practical in keeping the hair out out his eyes when he’s chasing buffalo or…. does he wear it to make a fashion statement to attract that cute gal in the next tee pee?  Hmmmm.  Probably a little of both… wouldn’t you say?

P.S. I think “Tie-Bands” fabric headbands are more of a fashion statement.  However our cute headbands can be used to keep the hair from falling into your face while you’re cleaning the kitchen, bathrooms and such.  See… decorative and functional… at the same time  We are part of the history of headbands too.  What more can I say?

Hang On To Your Seat Because They Are Coming!

Baby headbands are forthcoming. I’m currently working on cute headbands for the younger set. They will be reversible headbands for babies and toddlers.  Mom and me head bands will follow.

My little girls never liked wearing headbands or clips, and always handed them back to me, with hair attached, two minutes after I had styled their hair and was ready to walk out the door.  I don’t know of a mom who has not had a similar experience.

Comfort for my babies and little ones was always of utmost importance to me.  Fabric tie on headbands are a win/win situation for mom and for the little one…. style for mom, and comfort for your child.

No more head band marks around that hairless head because it was too tight.  No more frustration trying to get clip to stay in that fine baby hair.  And, for heaven’s sake, no more sticking adhesives to your babies head!  (My mom says they use to use honey as an adhesive.)  I never tried that one.  No wonder a hair accessory would end up in the baby’s mouth.  Sooo sweet.

Comfortable babies are happy babies.  Stylish babies are a bonus.  Why not have both?

Check back soon to see our mom and me, baby headbands and toddler headbands.  I’m getting to it right after the holidays.  (Now… I didn’t say which holiday… did I!)

Cute headbands can always be found at “Tie-Bands”.  Whether they are for everyday wear, or holidays… we aim to please.

Finally… Headbands Kids Will Wear

"Kids Headbands"Most children’s headbands must be uncomfortable or why would they pull them off their heads five minutes after you put them on the child.  Some times it’s hard to find headbands for kids that they will wear.

Even though we think plastic headbands for kids are the way to spiffy them up, most little girls don’t like them. In fact most little girls don’t even like clips or barrettes (as we use to call them when I was young.)

My girls use to pull hair clips out of their newly styled hair and hand them over to me with a fistful of hair still attached.  Owie!

The stretchy headbands with the giant flower attached to it, which is almost as big as the child’s head, is not the way to go either.  Perhaps they want folks to focus on their cute face rather than be distracted by a five inch daisy adorned with glitter and rhinestones.

What’s a poor mom to do?  And of course, what’s a daughter to do?  Choosing headbands for kids can be tricky.

How about trying children’s headbands that are comfortable yet cute headbands.  “Tie-Bands” fabric headbands offer the cuteness of a hair accessory without the discomfort and struggle of encouraging your daughter to keep it on.

“Tie-Bands” come in many patterns and colors and they are reversible headbands as well  as being washable.

P.S.  Bottom line is… you can’t lose when you select headbands for kids from “Tie-Bands”,  children’s headbands at their best.  Try them out!

Guess Who’s Wearing Headbands?

Popular headbands are fabric headbands, plastic headbands, and elastic headbands.

In fact, headbands have been in vogue since the Romans were wearing wreaths on their heads back in the old days. (I don’t know if I would consider laurel wreaths cute headbands but they must have thought so.)

Even LeBron James, the American professional basketball player for the Miami Heat, sports a fabric headband. I’m not so sure you can put his selection in the cute headband category, but he sure looks cute wearing them.

Headbands seem to be the “In Thing” matter who you are, where you live or what you are wearing. They are the perfect hair accessory because, not only keep the hair out of your eyes, but they give your hair style that little pizzazz.

Headbands seem to be showing up everywhere: boutiques, Walmart, Pennys, and Nordstroms. However, not all headbands are alike.

Some are very uncomfortable, such as plastic headbands, that can give you a fearsome headache if they are too tight. The nice thing about a fabric headband it is comfortable and can be adjusted to fit every size of head. No more headaches.

Cute headbands are sometimes hard to find. At least that’s what I discovered a few years go. I wanted a cute headband that was comfortable, and inexpensive but could not find exactly what I wanted. That’s when I started “Tie-Bands” fabric headbands that could be adapted for both women and girls.

They are not only “The Bomb” but they are comfortable, stylish and even washable

Give “Tie-Bands” a try… and I’m sure you’ll agree with our friends, family and customers that they live up to their name.

P.S. Fabric headbands are the most popular headbands being sold today. They are comfortable stylish and washable. Finding cute headbands can be a challenge. However “Tie-Bands” solve the problem.

“Tie-Bands” Rock!

First Of All… We Always Have Choices

Cute Fabric HeadbandsWhen dressing for the day, more choices are better than less.  Reversible headbands give you more choices.

My girls love to choose which “cute headband” will go with with which “cute outfit”.  Discovering the colors and patterns that will best accentuate her hair and clothes is something my youngest daughter, Maggie, is particularly fond of.  She’s pretty good at making the decision pretty quickly… as she’s had a lot of practice.

Maggie is 11 and attends an intermediate school for 6th and 7th graders.  As you well know, this is an age where looking good and making a good impression is important.

She wears a fabric headband several days a week.  She feels it gives her that “extra little something” that others are going to notice.  And they do!  When she wears a new color or pattern, her friends take note and usually comment.

When you look good, you feel good and that positive attitude carries you throughout your day.  Of course, we all know that a positive attitude is a choice…just like choosing which head band to wear.  But, having a little hair accessory can not only accentuate your outfit but can help put a spark in your attitude and quicken your step.

Give my reversible, most comfortable, fabric headbands a try.  When you do, you just might find the choice to have a day is inevitable!

P.S. With so many choices of cute headbands, you might find it difficult to decide which one you like the best!

Do you have an unusual color combination that you think is smashing?  Do you know what two colors go absolutely perfect together?

  • Would you like to see vintage headbands or retro fabrics.  (When I use retro fabrics… my mom, who is a product of the 50′s and 60′s… says… “I remember that fabric.”  Not the exact fabric of course… but the retro look.  Head bands were big in her day. I guess you could call them vintage headbands also.
  • Do you like “Cute” for your little girls?
  • Would you enjoy something “Classy” that you can wear to the office?  Choosing just the right fabric can either dress you up… or keep your appearance casual.
  • Have you searched high and low for a hair accessory to match your favorite outfit but came up empty handed? I had that problem at one time… until I founded “Tie-Bands.”  Now I know where to go to get just want I want.  (My sewing room?)

How To Wear A “Tie-Band” Fabric Headband

"Fabricheadband Tied “Tie-Bands” Fabric Headbands are not only comfortable but versatile. However, there is the question of, how to wear a headband so it looks a little different than the standard knot at the back of your head? My daughters, Emily and Maggie are always looking for different ways to wear their headbands that will accentuate their various hair styles.

Tying the head band on top or your head or to the side, offers a different style which is youthful. The young girls really seem to like this look. If your hair is short, having the wide part of the headband wrap around the bottom of your head is very attractive.

If your hair is pulled back into a pony tail or a braid it offers a splash of color for a great finishing touch. You can tie the knot on top of the head or at the nap of the neck. Either way, you can be assured you will get second looks.

If your hair is long and you wear your hair down, the fabric headband works well at keeping your hair out of your face and is so much more comfortable than plastic headbands that sometimes dig into the sides of your head. Plastic headbands can can give you an awful headache.

Since “Tie-Bands are reversible headbands, you double your opportunity to shine in style.
